Resilient Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment (RLEE)
The Challenge
Uganda’s youth unemployment rate exceeds 30%, and women-owned enterprises face structural barriers to finance and markets. Building resilient livelihoods is central to breaking inter-generational poverty.
Our Approach
REST-Africa fosters inclusive economic growth through microenterprise development, financial inclusion (VSLA+), and market-driven value chain strengthening. We connect local producers to buyers and integrate technology into income-generation systems.
Key Interventions
- Establishing VSLAs and community enterprise groups with digital record-keeping.
- Providing business development services (BDS), coaching, and mentorship.
- Linking MSMEs to markets, finance, and digital tools.
- Promoting green entrepreneurship solar, clean cooking, waste recycling.
- Developing public-private partnerships (PPPs) that unlock youth and women’s potential.
