Inclusive Health & Community Well being (IHCW)

The Challenge

Rural and peri-urban communities in Uganda face limited access to preventive and primary healthcare services. Maternal and child health outcomes remain below national targets, and poor sanitation still contributes to preventable diseases.

Our Approach

REST-Africa strengthens community health systems through preventive, people-centred interventions. We integrate WASH, nutrition, and Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH) programming, emphasizing community participation and local accountability for health outcomes.

Key Interventions

  1. Community-based health promotion campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  2. Strengthening community health worker (CHW) networks and referral systems.
  3. School-based WASH programs constructing and rehabilitating facilities.
  4. Integrating climate-resilient water solutions and household sanitation technologies.
  5. Advocacy for equitable financing and inclusive health policies.

Impact
