Environmental Stewardship & Natural Resource Governance (ESNRG)

The Challenge

Environmental degradation, deforestation, and poor natural resource governance threaten community livelihoods and climate resilience. Unsustainable land use and weak enforcement of environmental policies accelerate ecosystem decline.

Our Approach

REST-Africa champions community-led conservation, ecosystem restoration, and renewable energy adoption. We align with Uganda’s National Environment Act and Paris Agreement goals, promoting green transitions at household and landscape levels.

Key Interventions

  1. Tree planting and reforestation programs targeting degraded hillsides and watersheds.
  2. Promotion of renewable energy solutions solar, biogas, and improved cookstoves.
  3. Supporting community resource governance structures (WUCs, forest committees).
  4. Conducting environmental education in schools and communities.
  5. Engaging in policy advocacy for sustainable land management.
