Our Story
REST-Africa — Responsive Action for Equitable and Sustainable Transformation–Africa — was founded with a simple but powerful belief: real change begins when communities lead their own transformation.
Born from the vision of young African changemakers, REST-Africa is a grassroots, women- and youth-led non-governmental organization legally incorporated in Uganda (Registration No. 80034977221144) as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Uganda Companies Act, 2012.
We emerged in response to persistent challenges affecting African communities — poverty, climate vulnerability, unemployment, and limited access to essential services. REST-Africa was created to bridge these gaps through inclusive, innovative, and climate-smart development approaches that place people at the centre of every solution.
From smallholder farmers and women entrepreneurs to youth innovators and community health champions, we work hand-in-hand with local people to co-create solutions that are practical, sustainable, and scalable.
